Nina Fourie-Gouws

Nina Fourie-Gouws has an effervescent quality and a passion for the guitar that comes across in both her personality and her playing. She has a rich and sensuous tonal quality that captivates her audiences.

In 2012 Nina obtained her Postgraduate Diploma in Music Performance with distinction from the South African College of Music, University of Cape Town. She is the first guitarist to receive these honours cum laude.

Nina completed her Bachelors in Music Performance degree at the University of Pretoria and also received a licentiate in Classical Guitar Teaching from the University of South Africa.

In 2012 she was invited to partake and perform in theVolterra Project Summer School in Tuscany, Italy under the guidance of internationally acclaimed guitarist Antigoni Goni and Carlos Barbosa-Lima.

Nina has received masterclasses from a large number of famous concert guitarist and pedagogues, including Carlos Bonell (at the Royal College of music in London), Nikita Koshkin (Russia), Marco Tamayo (Cuba), Štěpán Rak (Czech Republic), Victor Villadangos (Argentina), Goran Krivokapic (Montenegro), Antigoni Goni (Greece) and Giuseppe Ficara (Italy), to name a few.

Fourie-Gouws has also performed as a guest artist on the South African television show, Kyknet's Draadloos.

Fourie-Gouws is a part-time guitar lecturer at the Conservatory, University of Stellenbosch, and maintains an active concert schedule throughout Southern Africa
